Here at the Center for Ecolonomic Excellence and Development (CEED) and Nourish the Planet (NTP) we are excited to be doing daytime “Huddles” for our staff, interns, alumni and guests every FIRST and THIRD Wednesday of every month.
We are having another exciting webinar huddle, to be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 1:00 PM MST, live from NTP.CEED Headquarters. This week we will be chatting with Elizabeth Folgen, Chairman of Redrhino, a South African purpose-driven company that exists to support the Lapalala Wilderness School (LWS) in the Waterberg, South Africa.
Elizabeth Folgen started the LWS Norway Fund in 2011 to help raise corporate funding for the Lapalala Wilderness School. Soon it became clear that it was not a sustainable answer to the long-term running of the school. Therefore, in 2013 one late summer’s eve in a West of Ireland cottage, she shared her idea with Frances Crowe, to set up a company selling LWS inspired clothing to generate income for the school. The response was decidedly enthusiastic, and within a month they met for a brainstorming week-end in Norway. The following month they travelled to South Africa to visit the Lapalala Wilderness School for further inspiration, meeting with the LWS teachers and reserve workers. By the end of the visit, Redrhino had been born.
