Another year has passed us by, and the New Year has given us a chance to start fresh. Now is the time to make resolutions, if you haven’t made any yet.
This also gives us an opportunity to look back and see what we have achieved last year. Did you get everything you were hoping for? How are you going to make this year the best yet?
If you are doing the same things that you have always been doing, you will get the same results that you have been getting.
This year, make a commitment to yourself to do things better than you ever have, and you will get better results. Just doing things, even little things, differently will transform your life. This has been proven by the thousands of people who have followed these tips – you just cannot fail.
Transform your life, it’s easy!
Are you living the life that you were meant to live? I am sure you could be doing something in your life better than what you are doing now. This year, why not change a few things and start living a better life? Here are 5 simple things you can do differently to transform your life this year.
1. Aim high
I know everyone has dreams, but how many of us are willing to put in the extra effort to realize them? Remember when you were a kid? I am sure you had plenty of things on your list that you wanted to do when you grew older. But as we age, we tend to forget our dreams and start making a living; as a result, we forget to live our lives the way we want to.
Here is an example of what I mean by saying people don’t try hard enough to achieve something these days. Suppose I announced a $1,000 reward for the best essay in an essay writing contest, and posted it on a popular social media network. You would be surprised that out of the thousands of people who see that announcement, hardly a handful will even enter the contest. Of course there will be a few good writers on the social media platforms, but most people will not even give it a fair try.
So, all I am asking is for you to try something new and different.
You might not be the best, but you will become far better than what you were before. You can build your confidence and aim at bigger things once you have tried smaller things in life first.
2. Define your priorities
Have a clear goal and define your priorities. What is the most important thing in life for you at this moment? Identify what you need to achieve and narrow your choices down, no matter what you are trying to do. Make a list of things to do, and do the things that are most important to you first. Don’t worry if the list gets too long. Do the things that can be done right away and then do the least important things that are at the lower order of your list.
Take the tasks for a day at a time and go through your list. Let go of the things that are beyond your control, and put a note so that they become a priority on another day. Some problems might need your immediate attention while others may wait and can be put off for another day, or you might need help from others. You should avoid distractions and stay focused on your goals at all cost.
3. Live your best for the moment
I remember that one of my mentors once told me, to evaluate myself every moment. Ask yourself, “am I doing the best I can with what I am doing at this time”? If you do your best at all times, you will be able to do your best throughout the day, the week, the month, and even throughout the year.
4. Stop wasting time
Remember the old saying, time is money? Well, it is true. Even if we have our goals set, our priorities straightened out, and our objectives clear, we often become lazy and procrastinate.
This year, make a resolution to yourself to not delay with the things that you can achieve immediately; don’t put them off. Do them now and get them over with. You will be surprised with how much you will get done and how much time you will have freed up for your own time, once you have taken care of your obligations first.
Once time is gone, it never comes back.
There are apps and tools available that can help you manage your time. Remember that time always travels in one direction.
5. Don’t be afraid to seek help
If you know what you need to achieve, and you find some obstacles that are beyond your control, you might want to seek help from others. Don’t be afraid to seek expert advice from people around you. If someone is doing better than you, someone older than you or more experienced than you, that person might become a mentor for you. Seek help from people who are already at the point where you want to be. Most people will gladly show you the right way if you ask in the right way.
You need to seek the right people in the right place and time whenever you get confused. The internet is also a great place where you will find resources that you need. There is plenty of help available online; you just have to look for it.
