I decided to make dressing for the Christmas dinner, since it’s too good to just have once a year (at Thanksgiving). I asked Jen for the recipe, and she texted me back with a list of ingredients. She said she didn’t know how much of each. I asked Mom and at least got there was 3:1 cornbread to biscuit mix, but that was about it. She told me to make sure to use a lot of sage because it was really good. Dad also didn’t provide more specific instructions, but said to avoid using too much sage.
I probably should have paid more attention to how they all made it over the years.
When I tasted it in this state it was clear something was wrong–it was missing “something” but I couldn’t figure out what it was. In the end, the dressing turned out good, but not nearly as good as the dressing the rest of my family makes.
