Hi everyone! I am Emily, a new intern at Nourish the Planet. I just completed my last semester at Metropolitan State University of Denver and will receive a BS in Environmental Science (Ecological Restoration concentration) in August. I have devoted my undergraduate career to learning as much as I can about Botany, Geology, and the dynamic web of ecological processes which connects all aspects of the planet. My education exposed me to the issue of global food security and has provided an outlet into which my passion for plants, soil, and people can flow.
The global community has a great need to produce high-quality calories using as few resources as possible and without creating pollution or unfair labor practices. Development of a truly sustainable food economy will require community-based practices and needs hard-working advocates, enthusiastic visionaries, and knowledgeable scientists.
I have some gardening experience, and while I have very little hands-on experience with practices such as hydroponics and aquaculture, I am extremely interested in learning. My career goal is to combine my detail-oriented nature with my education and passion to develop, promote and improve upon sustainable food systems. Every day I practice mindfulness to infuse my actions with truth, love and openness.I am so excited to gather wisdom from all the radiant and wonderful beings here at Nourish the Planet!
