Acres USA magazine is a great resource for anyone from novice to expert looking to learn more about environmentally friendly farming. Some may think its a little extreme, but in this day and age we really have to learn that the so called “traditional” farming is really the extreme. Just think about it: is it extreme to spend thousands of dollars on fertilization while we are wasting our natural fertilizer by concentrating it so much in cesspools that it is damaging to the land? Is it extreme to genetically engineer crops and then sue farmers for using the wind carried pollen? Is it extreme that our food travels so far that it has lost a majority of its nutritional content by the time we eat it? I think so, and if you agree please take a look at Acres USA magazine. I have lost track of the article of mine that you printed in ’09 or ’10 about A.J. Bos and his monster mega dairy going up in my home county of Jo Daviess County, IL, practically all karst bedrock beneath his planned 42 acres of manure lagoons, 20 ft. deep.

FYI, due to our HOMES group’s perseverance (Helping Others Maintain Environmental Standards) — A.J. Bos, the California mega-millionaire investor took down his barns and trucked them away and no cows were ever brought in, Thank God, after the purple lechate fiasco from his monster silage pile that flowed into our Apple River State Park brought down the powers that be, on him.
We are watching to see if he obeys the orders given him, pays his fine and gets a permit and tries to start up again.
